Aircraft Refueling and De-fueling Support Services
DESCRIPTION:
Field Support Services, Inc. provides fuel management, operation and maintenance of China Lake’s 400,000 gallon bulk storage facility, the cryogenic facility and along side aircraft refueling and de-fueling.
Since March 2003 FSSI personnel have supported of aircraft refuel and de-fuel operations at the China Lake Naval Air Warfare Station . All operations are controlled and managed from a computerized dispatch center that is fully manned with dispatchers, laboratory technicians, drivers and mechanics that ensure timely responses to refuel requests, accurate accounting of all fuel received and dispensed, quality of the product is maintained and all vehicles and equipment are serviceable and available during all flight operations activities.
The bulk fuel storage facility operation includes a complete fuel laboratory, that performs fuel quality analysis to ensure it meets the strict requirementsfor military jet fuel. Correlation samples are verified at the Navy Laboratory in San Diego on a monthly basis to verify testing procedures and test on site equipment for accuracy. Test performed include AFL Water, Particulates, Flash Point, APR Gravity and DFSII anti-icing inhibiter.
The cryogenics facility has a 2000 gallon liquid oxygen and 1000 gallon nitrogen capacity. FSSI personnel issue both liquid and gaseous product, to not only US fighter aircraft, but all other nations using the China Lake Operations area. At times this provides unique challenges as each nation aircraft has different life support system. The strict quality requirement for aviation breathing oxygen is maintained through sampling and analysis Nicolet 210 analyzer.
