Base Operations Support Services (BOSS)
DESCRIPTION:
Field Support Services, Inc., is the prime contractor for the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coastal Services Center in Charleston, South Carolina. The Charleston based facility is a critical component of a national system of coastal resource managers that the center supports by providing information, technology and training on environmental, economic and social issues affecting the coastal regions. The center employs approximately 140 personnel on a 7 acre campus with two main buildings. The base operatingsupport services contract for the center requires the management, supervision and labor services in the functional areas of:
Facilities Management – Operate and maintain all plumbing, mechanical, electrical and utility systems. Functions also include supply inventory, shipping/ receiving, vehicle fleet management, mail and messenger functions, and other miscellaneous support.
Grounds Maintenance – Responsible for grass cutting, edging, fertilization, irrigation, disposal of debris, erosion control, pruning, landscaping and tree and stump removal around 2 buildings and 7 acres of real property.
Janitorial Services – Custodial services for hallways, stairwells, elevators, restrooms, offices, work areas, entrances, lobbies and storage areas.
Security Services – Physical security for personnel, facilities and equipment, access control, telecommunications and radio for federal, state and local law enforcement, fire detection and intrusion alarm monitoring and emergency response procedures support. Requires South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division qualified personnel.
