Logistics Support Operations - FSSI provides the management and resources required to plan, organize and perform Equipment Maintenance, Transportation, Supply and Logistical Support Services for Fort Sill, an Army Power Project Platform. FSSI is currently operating, managing, and maintaining all Class V ammunition items and related materials drawn, stored, or consumed at Fort Sill.
The ASP operation requires us to maintain an estimated inventory of 450 lots with 150 line items of various types of ammunition and explosives stored. We are responsible for the management and maintenance of an 850 GSA vehicle fleet consisting of sedans, pickup trucks, special use vehicles, shuttle vans, buses, tractor trailers and specialized personal carriers (cattle cars) that provide vehicles for the entire installation.
Additionally we operate the Rail Services Program and during the first quarter of FY05 we successfully loaded and shipped 757 rail cars, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
We operate a full up maintenance facility that supports day to day operations along with pre-deployment and re-deployment requirements for the following: Artillery Training Command, III’d Armor Corps Artillery Brigades, Reserves and National Guard in the AR-9 area, along with the installation owned equipment including police and fire vehicles and equipment. FSSI also provides maintenance support for small arms and inspects unit armories and weapons. During the first quarter of FY05 we repaired 10,955 end items and 1,469 components. In this effort, we maintained Ft. Sill’s status as the only installation in the US Army that met the 90 day goal of demobilizing units returning from theater and returning them to their home station in fully mission capable (FMC) status. At Ft. Sill our area of responsibility include supporting locations throughout the states of Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas. Fort Sill is a National Maintenance Program Center of Excellence.
