Field Support Services, Inc. is responsible for base operating support services and logistic support to Carlisle Barracks and its tenant activities: Army War College, Strategic Studies Institute, Center for Strategic Leadership, Army Heritage and Education Center, Army Physical Fitness Institute and Dunham Army Health and Dental Clinic. Work includes: buildings and structures maintenance, utility systems operation and maintenance, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems operation and maintenance, high and low voltage electrical distribution, emergency generator maintenance, water plant operation and distribution, grounds maintenance, road and heliport maintenance, snow removal, turf maintenance, maintenance of decorative gardens, pest control, transportation services, base supply service and material maintenance.
Our work force includes tradesmen, logisticians, administrative and management personnel and quality assurance personnel. FSSI is responsible for maintaining 217 developed acres on the barracks which includes a water treatment plant, vehicle maintenance facilities, logistics storage facilities, engineer maintenance facilities, Army lodging facilities, a cemetery, academic and war gaming facilities, two museums and associated open display areas, troop housing, a helipad, and family support activities such as a health clinic, commissary and a Post Exchange building. FSSI is responsible for maintaining a portion of the 21 buildings currently in a National Historic Landmark District within the barracks. FSSI provides management for a GSA fleet consisting of sedans, cargo trucks, vans, buses and maintenance services for engineer heavy construction equipment such as front loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, skid loaders and street sweepers. FSSI processes over 300 household goods shipments and over 100 freight shipments a month. Travel services are provided to AWC students, faculty, international students and Department of Defense employees.
