FSSI supports the United States Army Alaska at Ft. Richardson and Ft. Wainwright through its knowledge of purchasing/supply policies and procedures, property accounting, stock and inventory control, principles of accounting through manual or automated data processing (ADP), storage methods, warehouse control, materiel handling techniques, preparing and maintaining supply records, logistics principles and interactions (supply, maintenance, transportation, and procurement), hazardous material and waste procedures; and supply deployment and/or contingency operations. FSSI’s primary responsibility is to purchases materials and services, i.e. raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for all of the project requirements totaling over $6.6M annually. FSSI is responsible for operations involving storage, inspection, identification, and receipt of property to include being accountable for facility safety and security of assigned areas.
FSSI technicians operate automated equipment, special purpose vehicles, and material handling equipment. Expedite delivery of goods to users as determined by user’s requirements. Performs inventories, and ensures timely correction of discrepancies. Manages all inventory to minimize stock on hand requirements that can be met using just-in-time delivery from local suppliers. Materials, parts, and supplies requirements are generated by automated data system; the requirements are screened for available stock or ordered using the proper sources. FSSI ensures HSMS labels are properly affixed to all hazardous items as required. FSSI is proud to be a member of the US Army Arctic Warrior Team.
