FSSI provides overall management responsibility for range operations, building and vehicle maintenance, supply, and communications for the largest bombing range on the east coast. The 106,000 acre range host TDY units for Air to Ground and Ground to Ground war skills training. 905 acres is dedicated to target strike zones; the remainder is open wetlands shared with the community as wildlife habitat and natural resources.
FSSI initiates programming actions, designs, tracks, schedules, and accomplishes all maintenance, repair, alteration, construction, and construction management services for 194,947 square feet of real property and 929 acres of improved grounds. In addition to this traditional civil engineering role FSSI provides target maintenance and construction services. FSSI sanitizes (removes environmental threatening substances) track vehicles, aircraft, and other target value items, places them in realistic settings, and then retrieves destroyed targets for disposal.
Special emphasis is centered on sustaining the range to ensure operational status 24/7. FSSI teams with environmental programs to combat the spread of invasive weeds and pests using qualified pesticide controllers and environmentally accepted practices. FSSI provides complete logistical support executing all purchasing, receiving and warehousing functions. We utilize a FSSI generated databases for inventory control of equipment, track local purchase orders, and manage calibration requirements for all Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
FSSI also provides fleet management and vehicle maintenance for all general purpose special use and fire fighting vehicles). We manage a Hazardous Material Program that includes identification, handling, storage, and documentation, of hazardous waste and solid waste. FSSI ensures communications and information systems are properly maintained and available 24/7 in support of the range mission requirements. Our Computer Programmers and Telecommunications Technician have extensive experience in maintaining Local Area Networks (LANs), computers, and telecommunication systems.
